First of all, congratulations to David Cook. I personally thought the other David was going to get the overall vote. I guess America is getting edgy... cool.

I'd bet there are millions of songwriters, singers, bands, producers, label reps, musicians, recording engineers and music industry folks who are thinking "how can i get in on this?" Well, the answer is "get off your butts and do something about it." I have friends who have had their songs recorded and released by Idol contestants. Why, because they found a way to get heard. If you are truly passionate and truthful in your work then good things should follow (of course, you gotta be damn good too).

This was a season where the singers dreams took center stage The door is open. There's a chance for our dreams take center stage too. Get motivated! I know I am.

The answer is YES!!! In fact, there are still many 'old guys' out there who never signed a deal or contract with the talent and the dream. True, we've started families, lost hair and gained a little weight. But we're cool and our music still counts too.

Let's be honest, the new modern rock bands (who are incredible BTW) are writing the same stuff we did in the 80's. Today, the guitars are louder and crunchier, the drums are truly thunderous and lead vocalists are singing like it's their last day on earth. Yeah, these bands perform with pure passion. But one thing still remains... its about the SONG! These guys need great songs.

So, keep writing "old guys' ('old girls' too). The new breed of bands and singers want to perform and hear your music too!
